Our Story

Founded in August 1987 by Erwin J. Louisy, Barefoot was built on a simple yet powerful belief: Hospitality should be personal, and a destination should be experienced through the people who knows it best.

At a time when the tourism landscape looked very different, Erwin established Barefoot through a combination of strong relationships, intuition, determination, and an intimate knowledge of Saint Lucia. Her vision was not simply to provide services, but to create meaningful experiences that reflected the island’s unique character, culture, and people.

What began as a company specializing in Meetings and Incentives has evolved into one of Saint Lucia’s leading full-service Destination Management Companies. Yet while the business has grown, the philosophy behind it has remained unchanged.

The name “Barefoot” reflects our approach. To be Barefoot is to stay connected to the ground beneath you—to understand the landscape, appreciate the culture, embrace the people, and remain close enough to notice the details that make all the difference.
